Warwick Outpatient Pharmacy has a new home!

SWFT Clinical Services plays a vital role in delivering high-quality services that enable reinvestment into patient care. Any surplus generated through our activities is reinvested back into the business, returned to the Trust or donated to charitable organisations.

The new Outpatient pharmacy facility increases capacity, enabling SWFT Clinical Services to support a larger number of patients while improving operational efficiency. Along with a larger capacity robot from BD Rowa which increases the site’s stock levels and enhances the speed of the dispensing process. This technology allows for faster patient discharges, enabling focus on direct patient care.

A key highlight of the facility is the introduction of a MedPoint prescription collection machine, giving patients the flexibility to collect their prescribed medicines at times that are most convenient for them. This enhances the patient experience by reducing wait times and making the process of collecting prescriptions more convenient.

An electronic controlled drugs cabinet, also from BD Rowa, has been installed to increase both safety and efficiency in dispensing controlled substances. This system provides an added layer of security for sensitive medications.

The facility now offers a wider range of over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplementary health products. All aimed at supporting the wellbeing of our patients and community.

Ross Mould, Director of Clinical Operations at SWFT Clinical Services, said: “The Company remains committed to safety, excellence, and patient-centred care. The new purpose-built Outpatient Pharmacy at Warwick Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, demonstrates our continued investment in innovation to enhance local NHS services”.

The project to relocate the pharmacy involved a number of key contractors.  Along with BD Rowa and MedPoint, these include quantity surveyors OsbornesThe Design Buro; building services consultancy Greenways; and construction specialists William Gough & Sons.  Thanks also go to numerous colleagues for their involvement in the ergonomic use of the pharmacy and all the practical and essential elements that had to be factored in.
