Proposal for a new Healthcare facility in Lillington

Over the last 12 months SWFT Clinical Services and their parent company South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, have been working with Cubbington Road Surgery, Warwick District Council (WDC) and South Warwickshire CCG on the potential for a new development to replace both the Cubbington Road Surgery and the Crown Way Clinic in Lillington.

This is a really exciting project with an ambition of creating a new low or zero carbon healthcare facility that will include primary care services alongside a range of community health teams such as district nurses, Speech and Language Therapy, Consultant Led Paediatric Services and Community Dental.  This new centre will be able to better serve the local community and will support the delivery of modern healthcare – including accessibility, the infrastructure needed to support developments in the use of Information Technology, and the ability to cope with greater demand for services as the local population increases.

The Trust was granted funding from WDC to work up a number of options for a site that would support bringing these services together in one location. Working alongside partners, possible options were considered, and it was concluded that a new build on the Valley Road, utilising the adjoining WDC Car Park, offered the best opportunity to create a modern, integrated facility, close to neighbouring amenities.

SWFT Clinical Services purchased the former Treharrock House land in March 2021 and now a dedicated team with representatives from all partners are working together on the design and plans for the new development. The project is being supported by WDC with Community Infrastructure Levy funding and a Planning Performance Agreement.

Warwick District Councillor Judith Falp (Portfolio Holder for Community Protection) commented: “The proposed Lillington Health Hub is a much-welcomed new facility in Lillington on a site adjacent to other well-used and vital community services. We look forward to our continued close involvement as the final plans are developed and we see how the facility will provide both health, community and environmental benefits to the area.”

A full project proposal will be taken to South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust’s Board and Coventry and Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s Primary Care Commissioning Committee for approval.

We will continue to keep you updated as this exciting project progresses.
